Punar Jeevan aimed at catering the needs of the people of the three southern most districts of Tamil Nadu; namely, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari.

From 1992 to 2002, Punar Jeevan was functioning at Kanyakumari District. To reach out many more people more effectively, the administrative office and the centre were shifted to Thalapathi Samuthiram Keelur of Tirunelveli District in 2002.
